Opposition Response

Governor Jack creates a flimsy foreign policy platform. Jack rants about every minuscule foreign policy issue without actually instead of elaborating on specific goals and solutions he has for the issues. Additionally, Governor Jack’s environment platform fails to go into detail about how he will address the issue of climate change. He states he will create a Climate Change Defense Fund, but does not specify where the money will come from.

His tax platform fails to address the horrible wealth inequalities in this nation. His Presidency would not do anything to truly close the massive cleavages between the very poor and the very wealthy in this country. He proposes a tax bracket not so dissimilar from the one reported in the year 2019-2020. However, to save this nation from the vast wealth disparities we see in this country, maintaining the status quo isn’t enough and policies like the wealth tax we propose our vital.

Furthermore, Jack supports the Affordable Care Act. He wants to maintain that this act stays in office, but over the 11 years that Obamacare has been enforced, it’s obvious that it is an ineffective healthcare measure. Not only do private insurance companies continue to limit and deny coverage to their patients unfairly, but it is not a sustainable system that can remain in place. Too many remain uninsured, and even more, are underinsured. What America does need, however, is single-payer healthcare that is universally covered for all citizens and successfully covers all medical needs for patients regardless of their socioeconomic status. We cannot accept the fact that our healthcare system is broken. We must implement reform now.

There are areas in which we agree with Governor Jack. Yes, America must withdraw from the middle east and prop up the United Nations instead of pressing American influence. We must also insert diplomatic relations back with several foreign nations in the region on the tipping point of undemocratic rule.

In short, if Senator Ben’s policies are put in place, the security and health of our economy and the country as a whole will be in trouble. Senator Ben proposes to impose a country wide flat income tax. If this plan is put into place, every citizen in the United States will be in crisis. Why should the poor, who are struggling to put food on the table for their family each night, have to pay the same absurd amount as those who have a surplus of money in their pockets? This flat tax will only lead to a bigger gap between the classes, as well as put the less fortunate at an enormous disadvantage economically. Forcing the poor to give the little money that they have to the government, instead of toward the health of their family, is plain cruel.  Our plan, a graduated income tax is fair and will help our country to prosper. A graduated income tax ensures that the rich, who have a large sum of money, pay more in taxes. This way, the economic playing field is leveled and those who are less fortunate are put at less of a disadvantage.

Additionally, Senator Ben’s education policy is implausible. The Senator’s proposed plan is to “increase private spending towards public education.” The burning question facing us and most Americans is how? It seems practically impossible that the Senator could force private funds to go where he personally wants them. Our superior plan for education offers loan forgiveness, which is both possible and affordable. Large universities DO NOT need all of the money from student loans. Making sure our young, educated generation is prospering and not drowning in debt, needs to be our main priority. Let’s put the people first and choose policies that help our country, not hurt it.
